Sabino
.
Sabino colour pattern is characterized by any basic colour (bay, brown, black, etc.) with white markings rising from legs and spreading from the belly to the whole body. Lower legs and hoofs tend to be white. Head is usually white and blue eyes are common. Roaning is frequent – spots are mixed and the border between white and base colour is not easily discernible.
If the sabino colour pattern is weak, the horse is usually dark with white feet and a wide white bald spot and is de facto undistinguishable from single colour horses. Often it is difficult to discern them from tobiano or overo horses.
There are also almost fully white sabino horses – white sabino. The basic colour may remain on ears or tail dock. White sabino foals are very highly valued as they have no health issues unlike white homozygous frame overo foals suffering from Overo Lethal White Syndrome genetic disorder.
