Premium SNP DNA profile (ISAG 2020)
DNA profile, or genetic profile or genetic fingerprint, is a unique genetic identification of an individual. The genetic profile is the same throughout life and cannot be changed or destroyed. Genetic profiles can be used to verify an individual's ancestry - to verify paternity, maternity or siblingship. A genetic profile is a set of markers that together uniquely identify an individual. These markers are not indicative of an individual's appearance or health.
There are two types of DNA profiles, which differ in the types of markers.
→ STR genetic profile (according to ISAG 2006 standard) - microsatellite markers are determined.
→ SNP genetic profile (according to ISAG 2020 standard) - point polymorphisms are determined.
Premium SNP DNA profile (ISAG 2020) includes ISAG SNP panel 1 and 2 markers (231 markers).
STR and SNP profiles are not comparable to each other. For pedigree verification, both parents and offspring must have identical STR profiles or SNP profiles. Genetic profiles according to ISAG standards are internationally comparable - results measured according to the ISAG standard can be compared between laboratories.
The SNP profile analysis is very sensitive to the quality of the sample, so we strongly recommend sending a blood sample. SNP profiles are processed in batches once a month for efficient use of the sequencer for massive parallel sequencing. Samples are usually processed between the 10th and 20th day of the month.
