Flat Coated Retriever is a hunting breed from Great Britain. They were bred to trace and retrieve wild beasts in water or land. Flat Coated Retrievers have become so indispensable help in hunts for small game for many hunters.

In breeds of Flat Coated Retriever, the FCI-standard only recognizes black and brown colours, rarely yellow coat colour may occur. The yellow fur colour is considered a serious fault in the breed. With reg ard to the fact that the light colour is inherited recessively, both parents colour ed according to FCI-standards must be carriers of e-allele (genotype E/e). In Flat Coated Retrievers, tests are performed for locus E (Extension) and locus B (Brown).
